Appledore Sails offers three types of sailing:

Two to three hour trips around the picturesque Torridge Taw Estuary under sail or motor for a couple, family or small group of friends on an Appledore made, two masted traditional style Ford's lugger, 'Jez-y-belle'

Privately charter 'Patron', a 31 foot skippered yacht, just for yourselves for a short trip over Bideford Bar, for a day trip to Lundy or Clovelly, for a weekend or longer including trips to Wales, Scillies, or further.

Hire a RYA qualified commercial offshore yacht master

• to move your boat from one port or country to another
• to skipper your own charter holiday yacht anywhere in the world you fancy while you learn to sail, relax, or just enjoy
• for training on your own boat.

Appledore Sails caters for those who have never been on a sailing boat before and who would like the adventure of sailing for the first time, either in the estuary or out to sea.

Appledore Sails caters for those wishing to go out for a few hours, the day, for a few days or longer.

Appledore Sails caters to those who wish for a gentle sail as well as those who wish to experience the strong tidal conditions found in the Bristol Channel.

Appledore Sails caters for experienced sailors who wish to build miles and night passages before undertaking their Yachtmaster Exams, or even experience sailing round the notorious Land's End and the Lizard!

Appledore Sails is the only company on the North Cornwall / Devon / Somerset coast, to the best of our knowledge, which charters skippered sailing boats.

Appledore Sails hopes to provide you with a unique adventure. We do not crowd as many people on to the boat as possible. Normally only two or three guests would be on board. This will normally be just a couple, or a small group of friends. There is a maximum of six people on Patron at any one time, and four guests is the maximum we will take on Jez-y-belle.

Appledore Sails hopes its guests will want to join in with sailing the boat, within their abilities. Even first timers can take the tiller and pull a few ropes!
